Manchester United will launch another bid for AS Monaco’s Fabinho after the Ligue 1 champions rejected an offer from rivals Paris Saint Germain, according to reports from Italy.
Reports earlier this month suggested that Fabinho, who hinted towards a Man United move on live television, had been subject to a €45m bid.
However, noise surrounding a move to Old Trafford cooled once it was revealed that Paris Saint Germain had swooped in with an offer of their own.
But according to Calcio Mercato, and the same journalist who broke news of a United bid for Fabinho in the first place, Man United will launch another bid for the Brazilian following Monaco’s apparent reluctance to sell anybody to PSG – their main domestic rival – this summer.
Following Fabinho’s quotes over the last few months closely, it can be claimed with confidence that he is at the very least interested in a move elsewhere.
But where? A move to PSG is improbable for obvious reasons. Manchester City have already pinched Bernardo Silva from Monaco this summer and aren’t interested in the 24-year-old. Real Madrid could be an option but their perceived emphasis on Kylian Mbappe suggests they won’t move for Fabinho as well. Juventus emerged as potential suitors but it looks as if they will opt for Blaise Matuidi instead.
This is a rare state of affairs, and United would be daft to not cash in when they can.
