Ex-Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, will be pass the night at the EFCC’s custody, where he is reportedly being interrogated.
According to a report by Premium Times, the men of the Economic and Financial Crimes headquarters in Abuja, have been grilling Obanikoro since he arrived Nigeria to honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation.
Confirming the tale that the ex-Senator will be spending the night in the EFCC’s custody, his counsel, James Onoja SAN said the politician submitted himself but won’t be out again till Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
“He submitted himself to them upon returning to the country this morning. Unfortunately, he won’t be out again today,” Onoja reportedly said.
Continuing, Onoja said: “He told them all he knew in his statement, so we hope he’ll be released tomorrow. If he’s not released, then we’ll have to do the needful. At least we have the courts and this is still a country that should be governed by the rule of law.”
Obanikoro, who has been having a running battle with EFCC from America, where he had gone to study, arrived the country on Monday, October 17, 2016.
