Netherlands midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum has come out to explain why he stole Virgil van Dijk’s goal celebration. He recently revealed that he only borrowed it on a short term and he’ll return it as soon as VVD is back from injury.

According to him, he only celebrated like his ex-club teammate to show that the country is thinking of him amid his lengthy injury layoff.
Wijnaldum added that VVD has been demanding goals from him during the tournament, and he hopes to keep delivering.
His words, “Virgil always celebrates like this. This is how I show that we’re thinking of him. When he’s fit again, I will stop and it will be beautiful when he returns.”
“Before the game with North Macedonia, he asked me for two goals. He sets the bar high, but I succeeded. He hasn’t let me know yet how many I should score against the Czech Republic. Hopefully he will think one goal is enough!”
