AUSTIN, TX–(Marketwired – March 14, 2015) – EmBazaar, Inc., an Austin-based technology company, today introduced its inaugural app, Skoop Events, to the public. Skoop is the only unofficial social network built around a specific festival or event that combines event-specific news, official and unofficial events and a group chat feature into a centralized platform. Skoop for Events is available for free in the iTunes App Store and Google Play for Android today.
According to Neil Patwardhan, founder and chief executive officer of EmBazaar Inc., the company that created Skoop Events, “The app helps people spend less time searching and more time experiencing major events and festivals. It helps combat FOMO which is the ‘fear of missing out.’ The sheer volume of information about events — be it official or unofficial during a particular festival — quickly gets lost in large macro networks which is frustrating to a lot of festival goers. Now, Skoop Events houses all the information they need and want in one place. The app is filled with news, events, a marketplace and a powerful group chat feature that greatly enhances their festival experience.”
The app’s key features include heartbeat, a social feed with user generated social posts and news; events, where attendees can view, create and RSVP to official and unofficial event postings during the festival, streamlined marketplace for buying, selling and trading festival essentials, a poll feature to get instant feedback from the festival goers and a powerful group chat function to co-ordinate their life.
In addition, when users register for a Skoop account, they are not required to “friend” or follow individual users; rather, they are given access to content from all Skoop users at a given festival. This promotes easy access to breaking news within the app. Festival goers are certainly enticed by the idea of one singular unofficial source for all news around big festivals like the one currently going on in Austin, Texas.
“I’ve been attending large festivals in Austin, Texas for 11 years now and always spent an inordinate amount of time researching various social networks for news. Never has anyone been able to identify the free parties, with the free food, and the free beer… until Skoop,” said Corina Frankie, CEO of Competitive Creations, a local event staffing firm which staffs a lot of events themselves. “It just makes sense and frankly, makes life a whole lot easier for me.”
