The Niger State Police Command has apprehended two notorious kidnappers and an armed robbery suspect who have allegedly been terrorizing communities in Bosso Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
The suspects — Sani Mohammed, alias Shawo, 22; Abubakar Dahiru, alias Sirin-baye, 20, both of Gidan-Mangoro, Minna; and Idris Mohammed, alias Y.B, 30, of Opposite Kure Market area, Minna — were arrested on June 16, 2025, by operatives of the Crack Squad and Special Tactical Squad (STS).
In a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command said Sani and Abubakar had been linked to several high-profile kidnapping cases, including the abduction of a widow in Maikunkele for which they demanded and received an N8 million ransom.

Abiodun further disclosed that the same gang was responsible for the kidnap of two brothers in Beji. After demanding a ransom of N5 million, they collected N2.2 million, released one brother, and tragically killed the other.
“The suspects later fled to Kaba in Kogi State and Zamfara State until recently when they planned to regroup, with the intention of inviting Yeli from Zamfara and Smally from Kogi,” the statement read.
The suspects were also identified by another victim who paid a ransom of N1 million for his release. SP Abiodun confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as operatives work to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
Meanwhile, Idris Mohammed was arrested for his role in an armed robbery incident during which a gang attacked worshippers in a mosque during morning prayers in the Darulsalam area, opposite Kure Market, Minna.
“He confessed to the crime, revealing that he and other gang members — Yusuf, Usama, Hamza, Captain, Xsquad, and one other — carried out the attack. Xsquad had been previously arrested and prosecuted,” Abiodun said.
The police assured residents that the suspects remain in custody while efforts are intensified to track down their accomplices and bring them to justice.
