Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stationed in Obinze, Owerri, have successfully destroyed a den used by notorious terrorists led by a man known as Monday Ogu, also known as B44.
The operation, which took place in Ezioha community, Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo State, also led to the exhumation of dead bodies believed to be victims of the terrorists, buried in shallow graves near the den.
Brigadier General Usman Lawal, the Brigade Commander, addressed journalists after the operation, stating that it was carried out based on intelligence reports.

He revealed that the terrorists’ camp, strategically positioned on the bank of the Njaba River, spanned three council areas of Imo State: Njaba, Oru East, and Mbaitoli.
The criminals had been carrying out various attacks in these areas, including kidnapping for ransom, robbery of kidnapping victims’ valuables, burning of their vehicles, and killing of the victims, most of whom were buried in shallow graves.
Lawal also mentioned that the terrorists engaged in the vandalism of vehicles belonging to their victims, selling off the vehicles’ parts, and burning them beyond recognition.
The Brigade Commander urged residents of Imo State to provide security agencies with valuable information that could help locate and eliminate terrorists and other criminal elements in the region.
He emphasized the military’s commitment to clearing criminal hideouts and restoring peace to the affected communities, enabling residents to return and resume their normal lives.
Following the clearance of the terrorists’ hideout, the army exhumed the bodies of the victims for thorough forensic assessment.
Lawal expressed the army’s intention to trace the victims’ families and ensure they receive a proper burial.
