The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Rivers State chapter, has announced its intention to take action in response to the escalating political crisis in the state, citing the adverse effects on workers.
Addressing the issue after a joint Organised Labour meeting in Port Harcourt on Saturday, the State NLC Chairman, Alex Agwanwo, expressed concern over the crisis’s impact on the welfare of the state’s workforce.
Agwanwo strongly condemned any attempts to divert the state governor’s focus from delivering good governance and called on all involved parties to actively seek resolution.

“We condemn in totality the crisis in Rivers State and we call for immediate peace between all the political actors involved so that we can have peace and prosperity in the state,” Agwanwo stated.
“Honestly, this crisis is not helping us. When two elephants fight, the grasses suffer. As workers, we are feeling the impact.
The state is tensed. Our members are beginning to complain about the uprising and how their welfare is now being delayed.”
