Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, the South West leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has criticized the party’s new logo, stating that it was designed to suit the political movement of Kwankwasiya and the people of Kano State.
Olopoeyan, while faulting the plans to change the logo, argued that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) did not consult or consider the leaders and stakeholders of the party across the state.
Addressing journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Olopoeyan stated, “Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso doesn’t understand that he cannot be the sole decision-maker of the party because he has a governor in his state, but that doesn’t mean he owns the party.

It is now clear that he wanted to be the Alpha and Omega of the party, which is why he coerced the NWC of the party to expel the BOT chairman, Boniface Aniebonam.”
He expressed disappointment in Kwankwaso’s alleged self-centeredness, noting that inclusiveness of party leaders, stakeholders, and members is crucial for the party’s survival.
Olopoeyan further explained, “To us in Oyo State, NEC and NWC of the party adopted the logo to further promote the Kwankwasiya Movement.
I am saying this because, as it is, the red colour was chosen for Kwankwasiya and we all know that Kwankwaso’s colour is red.”
He criticized the lack of consultation and sensitization regarding the logo change, stating that the decision was made unilaterally without considering its impact on states with upcoming governorship and local government elections.
Olopoeyan expressed concern that the new logo could jeopardize the party’s chances in the Oyo State local government election scheduled in three weeks, as there is insufficient time for sensitization and familiarization with the new logo among party members and voters.
