The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) on Tuesday paid N25 million in compensation to an injured staff member of the National Assembly, reaffirming its commitment to social insurance for Nigerian workers.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of NSITF, Mr. Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, presented the cheque to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, on behalf of the injured female staff member.
The presentation took place in Ogunlana’s office.

Speaking at the event, Faleye described the payment as a testament to NSITF’s mandate of providing social security to workers in both the public and private sectors.
“This N25 million compensation cheque, being presented to a female staff member of the National Assembly who sustained an injury while in service, is symbolic of what NSITF stands for,” he said.
He emphasized that the Social Insurance Scheme plays a crucial role in protecting workers from occupational hazards and reiterated NSITF’s commitment to ensuring prompt compensation for deserving enrollees.
In his remarks, Ogunlana commended the NSITF for its dedication to workers’ welfare, noting that the scheme provides vital financial relief to employees facing workplace-related health challenges.
“This initiative is not just about financial assistance; it is about restoring hope, alleviating burdens, and reaffirming our solidarity with all hardworking Nigerians,” he said.
Ogunlana also assured NSITF of the National Assembly’s support in strengthening the agency’s institutional capacity to deliver on its mandate effectively.
The compensation underscores the NSITF’s role in protecting Nigerian workers and ensuring that they are not left financially vulnerable due to workplace injuries.
