Abuja (Defence Ministry Report) – “The Nigerian Military from inception has been acclaimed to be able and capable to wage and win any warfare, home and abroad,” the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro gave the affirmation during the shipping of stripes for newly promoted Naval Officers in Abuja recently.
Musiliu Obanikoro also said that the Nigerian Military Force has been known to be disciplined, responsible and capable of bringing down any uprising against the collective peace and unity of the nation. The Minister of State for Defence to mark the stripping ceremony enjoined them to see the new rank as a call to greater responsibility and patriotic service to their fatherland.
In the highlight of the occasion, the newly promoted ADC to the Minister of State for Defence, A. O Adewale (Lt.) and S. O Azeez (Lt.) were stripped with the new rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Speaking after the shipping of stripes to their new ranks, A. O Adewale (Lt Cdr) on behalf of his colleague deeply appreciated the mentorship he had enjoyed from the Minister and promised to take up the challenges of the new rank and the need for greater responsibility to their duty. In attendance at the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry; the former Minister of Aviation, Fanni Kayode (Dr), Directors and family relations of the newly promoted officers.
