Four pots of four teams in each will be used for the draw of the 2nd 1/8th final of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup 2014 which takes place at CAF headquarters Tuesday 1st April at 11h00 local time.
The four pots are established by the ranking of respective sides’ which is determined by the clubs’ performances in continental club championships for the period 2009-2013. A pre-determined co-efficient factor is used to multiply points accrued by each club each year to arrive at the accumulated total and subsequently the ranking.
Pot A will have the top 4 ranked sides from the Champions League with Pot C containing the top ranked Confederation Cup sides. Pot B and Pot D have non seeded Confederation Cup sides and non-seeded Champions League sides respectively.
Following placement of the teams in those respective pots, a draw will be done to determine the 4 matches to be played between the top 4 seeded teams of CL and the 4 non-seeded teams of CC. Another draw will be done to determine the matches to be played with the 4 top seeded teams of CC and the non-seeded team of CL.
• One ball will be drawn from pot A and one ball will be drawn from pot B
• One ball will be drawn from pot C and one ball will be drawn from pot D
• This procedure will be repeated 4 times (to confirm the fixtures of the play-off of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup with first leg matches on the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 April and second leg games on the weekend of 25, 26 and 27 April.
