The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with a clash between students of Areago Community High School, Ogbomoso, and residents of the community.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, reportedly escalated after students clashed with community members. Initial arrests included the school’s Vice Principal, two teachers, and the day guard, who were taken into custody by officers from the Owode Police Station.
However, they were later released through the intervention of other teachers, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and stakeholders.

On Friday night, two residents accused of assaulting teachers during the altercation were apprehended by the police and remain in custody at the Owode Police Station.
Chairman of the NUT in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Tunde Oladapo, confirmed the arrests on Saturday.
He also provided updates on the release of the school staff members.
“I was at the police station to ensure the teachers were not unfairly treated. Two community members were arrested Friday night and are still in custody.
“The Vice Principal, two teachers, and the day guard who were earlier arrested have been bailed. We intervened to ensure their release.
“However, while we were at the police station, we received information that some teachers still in the school were being attacked.
We went back to the school, and two individuals responsible for the assault were arrested,” Oladapo explained.
He added that while two women allegedly involved in instigating the clash were initially detained, they have since been released.
Investigations into the cause of the altercation and further actions are ongoing.
