The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as one of its most devoted and loyal members.
Speaking at a book launch in honor of Wike, the PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, lauded the former Rivers State governor for his steadfast commitment to the party despite internal challenges.
“Our mentor and principal, who has never left the PDP for a day, is one of the most committed and loyal party leaders we have ever had.
He has done well, he is doing well, and we wish him well in all his future endeavors,” Arapaja stated.
He highlighted Wike’s advocacy for equity, justice, and fairness, praising his leadership within the G5 group and his unwavering support for fellow party members. Arapaja contrasted Wike’s dedication with some party members who engage only when seeking personal benefits.
“We know you, and we always love and appreciate you.
Some people believe in entitlement mentality, but we will always stand by you because you are a man of integrity, honor, and a performer,” he remarked.
Arapaja also addressed recent criticism of the PDP by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, expressing disappointment in Akpabio’s comments.
He reminded the Senate President, a former Akwa Ibom governor under the PDP, of the role the party played in his political rise.
“The foundation of all political parties is the PDP. I am surprised when someone who is a product of the PDP speaks negatively about it,” Arapaja said.
While acknowledging Akpabio’s achievements as governor under the PDP, Arapaja maintained that the Senate President’s criticisms were unwarranted.
“Nobody can dispute the fact that the present Senate President performed during his tenure as governor under the PDP,” he added.
The event reinforced Wike’s legacy within the PDP and celebrated his contributions to the party’s ideals.
