One more suspect has been arrested in connection with the abduction of madam Florentina, mother of Senator Emmanuel Paulker, police authorities have said.
The arrest brings to five, the number of suspects arrested in connection with the crime.
The nonagenarian, who has been kidnapped before in 2010, was abducted last Wednesday by unknown gunmen at her residence in Opolo-Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Police Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Hilary Opara, said the suspect was arrested on Friday. He added that with the gale of arrests, he was optimistic that the senator’s mother would soon regain freedom.
The police had earlier arrested four suspects. One was arrested on the day of abduction, while three others were arrested last Wednesday.
It was learnt that some of the suspects had confessed to the crime and were helping security agencies to track the whereabouts of the woman.
