The Bauchi State Police Command yesterday said it uncovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) buried inside a building in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna, confirmed the incident to journalists in his office in Bauchi, saying the discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon.
Haruna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the Explosive Ordinance Unit of the command successfully recovered and rendered safe an IED gas cylinder buried in a building site located at VIO Quarters in Azare, Bauchi.
He added that other items recovered from the site included 37 rounds of double-barreled gun cartridge, just as he pointed out that the building was occupied by hoodlums five months ago, before they were driven away.
The police spokesman commended the level of security awareness of the people of the state and urged them to do more to promote security and safety.
