The Abia State faction of the Labour Party (LP) loyal to Julius Abure has accused Governor Alex Otti of sidelining foundational members of the party, claiming that the political group “Abia Arise” now dominates the state’s political space.
Chairman of the faction, Prince Ndubueze, made the allegations on Wednesday following what he described as an enlarged, closed-door meeting of party members in the state.
According to Ndubueze, those who built the party in Abia State have been excluded from benefiting from its electoral success, asserting that not a single commissioner in Governor Otti’s cabinet was chosen from the ranks of LP loyalists.

“Everything about the Abia State Government today is built around the Abia Arise political family,” he said. “Those who laboured for the party’s victory have been completely shut out.”
Ndubueze also accused both Governor Otti and the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of engaging in anti-party activities.
He claimed that Obi’s recent philanthropic visits to parts of northern Nigeria were undertaken without prior consultation with the LP, saying such actions do not promote party unity.
On the recent Supreme Court ruling which addressed the leadership crisis in the party, Ndubueze insisted that the judgment did not remove Julius Abure as National Chairman of the Labour Party.
He urged party leaders to prioritize unity and inclusion, warning that continued marginalization of party loyalists could threaten the party’s future cohesion in Abia and beyond.
