Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, issued a dire warning on Friday, stating that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party face imminent collapse unless they take decisive action to rescue themselves.
In his assessment, Primate Ayodele characterized the current state of the opposition as being in a state of coma, predicting that both parties would cease to exist within the next three years if they fail to merge.
He emphasized that the only viable solution to salvage the parties from an impending demise is a merger; otherwise, they risk losing relevance in the country’s political landscape.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele conveyed, “PDP and Labour Party are already in ‘Coma’; they will be ‘buried’ in three years if they don’t merge.
There are forces troubling them but they have not seen it. They need to fight it spiritually before fighting it politically.”
He underscored the urgency of a merger, cautioning that without such a strategic move, both parties would fade into oblivion before the next election.
The spiritual leader emphasized the need for the opposition to set aside selfish intentions, warning that even prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar would not be able to prevent their decline.
Specifically addressing the PDP, Primate Ayodele predicted a bleak future for the party, foreseeing it becoming a forgotten entity as active members defect to the ruling party.
He noted internal divisions within the PDP, with factions fighting for personal interests, and anticipated increased challenges for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Ayodele’s cautionary message coincides with Atiku Abubakar’s call for opposition unity against the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027, citing concerns about the APC leading Nigeria into anarchy and a one-party state.
The warnings from both figures highlight the complex dynamics and challenges facing Nigeria’s political landscape.
