CHICAGO, IL–(Marketwired – Mar 5, 2015) – Retale (www.retale.com), a location-based mobile platform connecting more than 3 million shoppers with their favorite local retailers, today announced the imminent launch of the Retale Apple Watch app, which is set to debut in April, when the new device is expected to be available for purchase in-store.
Retale’s Apple Watch app will build upon the intuitive location-based features users have become accustomed to in using Retale on iOS. The Retale Apple Watch platform takes advantage of Retale’s drive-to-store emphasis by making its “Store Finder” a key component. Retailer ads will also be visible on the Apple Watch, serving as an extension of Retale’s iPhone and iPad apps, allowing users to sync preferences, favorites, lists and actions across devices to create one of the most comprehensive and convenient multi-platform shopping experiences today.
“We are excited to bring this Apple Watch use case forward as retailers and shoppers engage in this new manifestation of mobility,” said Retale President Pat Dermody. “Apple Watch is the next big thing and will introduce a lot of new possibilities in the very near future, as well as provide an incredible traffic boost down the road. While it is hard for some to conceive of mobile beyond phones, we are only at the tip of the iceberg in mobile technology and are committed to leading our category in these new opportunities.”
Beyond its interconnectivity with other devices, Retale’s Apple Watch app will introduce a host of new features to help users navigate their surroundings to track down items and the best deals locally, including nearby retailer options and intuitive map routing. The app will also provide retailers an opportunity to act on in-app consumer intent and actions by serving up-to-date deals, news and proximity-based alerts right to users’ wrists.
“We’re providing the best features from Retale on iOS in a friction-less setting, helping retailers more easily connect with customers and customers access more deals,” said Dermody. “By using the Apple Watch almost as a shortcut to the fuller experience on the iPhone or iPad, making it more convenient for our users to engage with our retailers’ content.”
Retale replicates the print circular experience in a digital format, providing more than 3 million mobile shoppers with access to in-store deals and promotions from over 130 major retailers through the Retale website and mobile app. All information is location-based, making it possible for shoppers to find the best deal at a store nearby. For retailers, Retale provides new opportunities to reach circular readers who are migrating from print-to-digital, as well as a new generation of shoppers who are more likely to shop in-store while using smartphones, tablets or wearable devices to support them.
The full feature breakdown for the Retale Apple Watch app will be disclosed at launch.
