Bayern Munich’s Champions League hopes have received a setback as Arjen Robben has been ruled out of the return against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Coach Jupp Heynckes told kicker “it’s too big a risk” and Robben, who scored Bayern’s winner in the 2013 Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, will not travel to Madrid with the rest of the squad.
However, David Alaba could be set to return at left-back. Alaba missed both ties against Sevilla in the quarterfinals and also the first leg against Real with a sciatic nerve problem.
“I am well on track for the game on Tuesday,” Alaba told the club’s website.
Meanwhile, Javi Martinez has also been able to train on both days at the weekend.
Martinez suffered bruising to his skull and had to be substituted after 75 minutes but is expected to make the trip to the Spanish capital.
