Atletico Madrid president, Enrique Cerezo has warned Ronaldo to not count the double Champions League winners medal he received after matches against his club.
Ronaldo replied to boos and jeers from Atletico fans in their 2-0 Champions League defeat the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday by raising up five fingers to display the number of Champions League trophies he has won.
After the game, Ronaldo said, “I’ve got five Champions Leagues, Atletico have none.”
But disagreeing vehemently, Cerezo said: “For me, Cristiano does not have five Champions Leagues but three, and for a very simple reason. The two against Atletico Madrid he did not win.”
Asked who had won those trophies, the Atletico Madrid president replied: “We can talk about that in the next interview.”
Carlo Ancelotti, who was coach of Real Madrid for their 2014 Champions League final win over Atletico, was asked about Cerezo’s comments at a news conference on Thursday.
His reply was, “Why would you not consider them?”
“I don’t know what to say … Madrid won those Champions Leagues deservedly.
“They had a tough opponent, as Atletico have been and are a very strong team. I wish that Atletico can win a Champions League some day.”
