Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has disassociated herself from a viral audio recording circulating on social media, describing it as fake and maliciously doctored.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the lawmaker categorically denied any involvement in the purported conversation, which allegedly features her making remarks about key national figures.

She stated that the voice in the recording was not hers but a digitally cloned version created to misrepresent her views and incite public misunderstanding.
“My attention has been drawn to a video currently trending online purporting to feature me in a conversation with a journalist,” she said. “I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from the said video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or engage in such a conversation. The voice is not mine—it has clearly been cloned with malicious intent.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that this is not the first time her identity has been manipulated using digital technology. She recalled past instances where her voice was doctored to simulate conversations with high-profile individuals.
She further revealed that unknown individuals may have gained unauthorized access to her communication systems and used voice cloning to place fraudulent calls to prominent Nigerians. Among those reportedly contacted are Emmanuel Ekon, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Chief Allen Onyema, and Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye. She maintained that she had no involvement in such calls.
“This trend is not only criminal but also dangerous, with serious implications for privacy, public safety, and the integrity of democratic discourse in Nigeria,” she warned.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the public to disregard the viral audio and avoid amplifying disinformation. She confirmed that her legal and security teams are currently investigating the matter to trace those behind the digital forgery.
“I remain firmly committed to truth, justice, and responsible democratic engagement. I urge Nigerians to be vigilant and resist the spread of disinformation, especially as technology continues to evolve,” she concluded.
