The Senate, on Thursday, April 21, 2016, reached a resolution to convince President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the 2016 budget.
According to The Guardian, the legislators came to the agreement after holding a rowdy session.
They also reportedly plan to tell that president that after he signs the budget, he can submit an amendment proposal to correct any errors noticed.
“We have seen the president already on the budget. In fact, meeting the president by the Senate leadership is not a big deal,” Senate Leader, Ali Ndume said.
“It is not true that the budget had been sent back to the National Assembly. I am also not aware that there is any communication from the president on the issue.
What I know is that areas of concern to the presidency are now with us here. We are talking with the presidency to resolve all the issues,” he added.
Earlier reports suggested that Buhari had sent the budget back to the National Assembly due to some details which were not satisfactory to him.
