Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose has said that some people have been urging him to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose however said that he would not join the APC because some members had betrayed party leader, Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement released by his spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, the governor made the comments during a gathering in Ado Ekiti.
“Some people have been making overtures to me to join the APC, but I cannot join them. With what have they repaid somebody like Asiwaju Tinubu? He worked and helped the party to secure victory but has been dumped. That is not a party I would be interested in joining,” Fayose said according to the statement.
“One thing I would not allow is for anybody to rubbish our leaders in the South-West. Our leaders, including Asiwaju Tinubu, must be accorded their due respect, as any attempt to rubbish them will be taken as a slap on the entire Yoruba race,” he added
Fayose had earlier said that he would not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but even if he decided to, it wouldn’t be to the APC, which he described as the “Red Sea.”
