During the Jenjo Cultural Day Celebration at the Major General Boniface Robert Sinjen Sports and Cultural Centre, David Robert, the paramount ruler of Jenjo community in Karim-Lamido local government council, urged the Taraba State government to elevate the Jen chiefdom to second class status and appoint more district heads.
Robert emphasized that this upgrade would instill a sense of belonging among the Jenjo people, highlighting their historical standing among neighboring chiefdoms like Zing, Kona, and Bali.
He noted that while Zing has attained first-class status and Bali and Bakundi are second-class chiefdoms, Jen has remained a third-class chiefdom since the 1980s.

“We are therefore appealing to the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to approve and upgrade Jen chiefdom to give us a sense of pride,” Robert stated.
Former state governor Rev. Jolly Nyame encouraged the monarch to foster unity among the people of the community and the council.
Governor Kefas, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Timothy Katap, reassured the community of the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the state.
Governor Kefas also pledged to connect the community to high-quality roads and other essential social amenities in the near future, demonstrating the government’s dedication to improving the lives of the people in the region.
