December 25th is over, but that doesn’t mean the Christmas gifts have to stop pouring in. Hollywood actor, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson believes in just that as he gifts his ‘Uncle’ a car for Christmas.
The first time father of daughter, Jasmine, yesterday shared a photo collage on Instagram of the monster truck he just recently gifted a man he calls ‘Uncle Tonga’, alongside a heart-warming account of the two.
The photo shows a young Dwayne Johnson at his first match in Texas, alongside one of Uncle Tonga and a third of the two together with the gifted truck in the background.
“Merry Christmas Uncle Tonga – enjoy your new truck! Cool Christmas story to share with y’all…” the actor/wrestler began in his caption.
The Rock had known Uncle Tonga since he was five years-old because his grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, helped train him to become a professional wrestler over three decades ago. Uncle Tonga’s wrestling name was ‘King Haku’, much in the same way Dwayne Johnson’s is ‘The Rock’.
Johnson further explains that after he was called by Vince McMahon to wrestle, he had gone to Uncle Tonga for wrestling gear because he didn’t have any and was too broke to buy.
He gushes about how Uncle Tonga had hugged him after giving him a pair of purple wrestling trunks, and encouraged him with the words, “I’m so proud of you. Go get ‘em nephew!”
The Rock boasts about wearing the borrowed purple trunks which he called lucky, at his first match in Corpus Christi, Texas in front of 15,000 people, no doubt from which he emerged winner.
He further praised Uncle Tonga, calling him a family man who is humble and a champion. Terming him “the greatest human being I know”, before dishing on how he revealed to Uncle Tonga the car was his.
“So we walk outside and I said ‘Uncle how do you like my truck?’ He said, ‘Whoooaaa nephew it’s beautiful… I love it!’ I said ‘Good ’cause it’s yours.’ He was speechless. Thru tears (manly of course;) we monster hugged ’cause I’ll never forget what he did for me when I had nothing. Merry Christmas Uncle and ofa atu. #LuckyPurpleTrunks.” He wrote on Instagram.
