Both of Kano State’s former commissioners from the previous administration of Abdullahi Ganduje have recently gone away.
Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Barrister Zubaida Damakka, the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, both passed away on Friday.
A statement made by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, said that Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, 79, passed away after a brief illness. He was survived by his wives and 15 children.
Barrister Zubaida Damakka passed away in Abuja following a brief illness, according to Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media. She was survived by her husband and three children.
On Sunday, Islamic funeral prayers were held for them in Kano.
Dawaki was a famous figure and well-respected personality, according to the statement, whose untimely passing had left a vacuum in the lives of many.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf prayed for the bereaved family’s fortitude and strength, wishing them comfort at this trying time. He also acknowledged the great loss that Dawaki’s death signified.
