Rivers State Government has launched the 2014 edition of the special package of compendium of business – Yellow Page directory in the State to make information accessible and available.
Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Chima Chinye during the Public Presentation of the compendium at the Atlantic Hall, Hotel Presidential Port Harcourt said, “the Yellow Pages will provide information to both the organized private sector and the general public.”
Mr. Chinye stated that the Yellow Pages directory was packaged to enable everyone have access to their customers, adding that it will also serve as easy data flow irrespective of the geographic location in the State.
He pointed out that, the Yellow Pages can be easily accessed, saying that companies are grouped together alphabetically under subject classification, identified suppliers quality of service, brand names etc.
The Commissioner noted that, the compendium would enhance swift internet access, provide common information and platform for e-business services delivery in the areas of health care, education, security, schools, churches etc.
The Chairman of the occasion Mr. Pedro Egba, the Managing Director WELTECK Limited has called upon all business operators to use the directory as a vehicle to boost their capacity.
Mr. Egba pointed out that the Yellow Pages directory will help transform business operation and will improve entrepreneurial development in the State.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Rivers State Civil Service Commission Sir Ngo Martyns-Yellowe commended the State Government for the laudable initiative of packaging a compendium of businesses.
Sir Martyns-Yellowe stated that government has made business environment easier for investors and visitors by the provision of the Yellow Page directory.
He described the yellow pages director as the facilitating strategy that will encourage the organized private sector participation to accelerate Commerce and trade development in the State.
The occasion was attended by the Hon. Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Nyema E. Weli, Commissioner for Transport, Hon. George Tolofari.
Others include Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ms Kadilo Brown, Ms Madline Tador, General manager, Radio Rivers, Waste Management, Rivers Mr. Ade Adegun among others.
