The State Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this on Wednesday while presenting the agency’s operational scorecard for April 2026.
Ofoyeju said the arrests, comprising 19 males and 10 females, were made during targeted raids on known drug flashpoints and routine patrol operations across the state.

He noted that the seizures included 9,611.69kg of cannabis, 748.02kg of psychotropic substances, 444kg of tramadol, 25.2kg of rohypnol, 242.82kg of diazepam injection, 36kg of bromazepam, and 20.2 litres of codeine syrup.
The commander also disclosed that operatives uncovered and destroyed a cannabis plantation at Egbeta Forest Saboro Camp in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, covering 0.912574 hectares and estimated to yield about 2,281.435kg of cannabis.
According to him, the command secured five convictions and filed four new charges within the review period, while 89 cases are currently pending before the Federal High Court in Benin City.
Ofoyeju added that the agency continues to address drug demand through rehabilitation efforts, noting that 13 clients received counselling and were released to their families, while 12 others are undergoing treatment.
He further revealed that seven sensitisation programmes were conducted to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
The NDLEA boss said the achievements underscore the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks in Edo State, assuring that operations and community engagement efforts would be intensified.
