Several aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who vied for the primaries in the Akoko North-East/North-West federal constituency bye-election in Ondo State have expressed dissatisfaction with the results.
Ifeoluwa Ehindero emerged as the APC candidate after securing 105 votes in the primary held at Victory College in Ikare-Akoko, where he outperformed eight other contenders for the party’s ticket.
Ehindero is now set to represent the APC in the February 3 by-election, which aims to fill the vacant seat in the federal constituency following the appointment of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as the Minister of Interior by President Bola Tinubu.

However, the primary process has been marred by controversy, as eight of the nine aspirants who participated in the election have raised objections, citing irregularities and a lack of transparency.
Among the aggrieved aspirants are Olugbenga Araoyinbo, Haruna Adesina, Muyiwa Olusa, Olanrewaju Kazeem, and Bimbo Makinde.
Araoyinbo highlighted concerns about the lack of access to the delegate list before the primary, stating, “With the conduct of the primary, we will lose the election.
One single person wrote the list of delegates from the 23 political wards.
There was no level playing field. We have not seen the list as we speak. This is a charade. This is not acceptable.”
The discontent among the aspirants raises questions about the transparency and fairness of the APC primaries, casting a shadow over the upcoming bye-election.
