Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has increased the monthly allowance of operational staff of the Torrey Home for Handicapped Children in Kano metropolis, from N5, 000 to N10, 000 monthly. The increase, he said, is not to compensate them but to show appreciation for their diligence in taking care of the children who are mostly mentally challenged. He said that only God can reward them. At least six people have been killed in a fresh bomb blast that rocked Damaturu, Yobe State capital. According to repoorts, the blast occured near a police checkpoint at about 1.00pm today on the main road to Maiduguri, in neighbouring Borno state, the epicentre of insurgent attacks in the region. “Eight people including two bombers were killed in the explosion.
