The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and incumbent, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has been re-elected as governor of Ogun State for a second term. The final results announced by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, supervised by Chief Collation Officer/Returning Officer, Duro Oni on Sunday, showed that Amosun secured 306,988 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Gboyega Isiaka of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who garnered 201,440 votes. Voting has been extended into Sunday (today) in a key governorship election in the volatile state of Rivers, following massive irregularities at some polling stations, officials said. The extension affects nine wards in oil-rich Southern Rivers, said the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gesila Khan. She said that in some instances key election materials were never brought to polling stations.
