Hundreds of people from four villages near the devastated Borno town of Baga, have been forced to flee after a warning from Boko Haram militants, community leaders said on Tuesday. Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has urged oil marketers to comply with the new pump price of petrol, which is N87 per litre. In a statement by its President, Igwe Achese, NUPENG noted that most of the filling stations were still dispensing fuel at the old rate of N97 per litre or not selling fuel at all. “It amounts to total disservice for the oil marketers to continue to sell fuel at the old rate, thus exploiting the consumers,” Achese said. In a report by the institute, published under the Africa Growth Initiative with the title: “The 2015 presidential elections in Nigeria: The issues and challenges,” Brookings said Jonathan’s Peoples Domocratic Party (PDP) was more likely to win the February election. Soldiers attached to 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala in Ogun State, yesterday, intercepted a truck-load of about 3,600 ballot boxes filled with ballot papers, at Odogbolu axis of the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway. Controversial Assistant Inspector of Police (AIG), Joseph Mbu has been redeployed by the Nigerian Police to Zone 2, which comprise Lagos and Ogun.
