Soldiers of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army have reclaimed Chibok town in Borno State, about 24 hours after Boko Haram terrorists invaded and took over the town. Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has lost his mother, Hajia Ramotalahi Ahmed. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said the governor’s mother, who was 90, died yesterday after a brief illness. Hajia Ahmed is survived by Alhaji Ayo Ahmed, Alhaja Hajarat Ibraheem, Hajiya Sidikat Sadiq, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, Abdulrasak Ahmed, Hajiya Binta Atolagbe, Hajiya Nimota Abiara and Hajiya Basheerat Ahmed. She has since been buried according to Islamic rites in her home town of Share, Kwara State.

Residents of Borno on Friday appealed to the state government to enlist the services of local hunters and vigilantes in liberating towns captured by the Boko Haram insurgents.
