The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) 2014 report has revealed Nigeria’s poorest states. According to the report which puts the percentage of Nigerians living in poverty at 43.3 per cent, Bauchi State has the highest percentage of people living in extreme poverty, followed by Kebbi State. Soldiers of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army have reclaimed Chibok town in Borno State, about 24 hours after Boko Haram terrorists invaded and took over the town. Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has lost his mother, Hajia Ramotalahi Ahmed. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said the governor’s mother, who was 90, died yesterday after a brief illness. Hajia Ahmed is survived by Alhaji Ayo Ahmed, Alhaja Hajarat Ibraheem, Hajiya Sidikat Sadiq, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, Abdulrasak Ahmed, Hajiya Binta Atolagbe, Hajiya Nimota Abiara and Hajiya Basheerat Ahmed. She has since been buried according to Islamic rites in her home town of Share, Kwara State.
