A road project worth N12 million in Plateau State has reportedly collapsed less than a year after its completion, sparking public outcry over the quality of infrastructure delivery and misuse of public funds.
According to TrackaNG, a civic tech organisation promoting transparency and accountability in public projects, the Kogin Kasar Wase-Tofar Road, resurfaced and dressed under a 2024 contract awarded by the Federal Ministry of Works, has been severely damaged by flood, rendering large sections impassable.

In a report shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, TrackaNG revealed that the project was poorly executed despite being listed in the 2024 Federal Government budget. The organisation described the current state of the road as “abandoned,” with many areas already deteriorated, thus denying residents access and the intended benefit of the infrastructure.
“The project was poorly implemented, with several portions now unmotorable,” the organisation stated. “This raises concerns about the quality of work and the oversight by relevant authorities.”
TrackaNG has now called on the Federal Ministry of Works, particularly the roads department (@FedRoadsNGR), to publish full details of the contract and compel the contractor, Sahar Continental Ltd, to return to site and remedy the substandard work.
“This incident highlights recurring issues with accountability in Nigeria’s public infrastructure projects, where contractors often deliver substandard work despite significant government spending,” the civic group said.
Citizens, the group added, are demanding greater transparency and stricter monitoring to prevent similar failures in future government projects.
