Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has stated that he will not worship the immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, despite Wike’s role in his emergence as governor.
Governor Fubara made this declaration during a meeting with a delegation from Bayelsa State, led by former governor Henry Seriake Dickson, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of recognizing the role of individuals in achieving goals but maintained that it does not mean they should be worshipped.

He highlighted that while humans act as vessels for God’s purpose, they should not see themselves as God.
Regarding the political crisis in the state, Governor Fubara mentioned attending several reconciliation meetings but noted that the resolutions were rebuffed by the other party. He reiterated his commitment to peace, stating that he had shown respect and subjected himself to reconciliation efforts for peace.
Governor Fubara clarified that the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly does not exist as far as the law is concerned.
He expressed his approach as that of a big brother, focused on ensuring meaningful development and a tenable political relationship in the state.
The governor underscored his intent to build on the development foundation laid by past leaders, including former Governor Wike.
He highlighted the need to address minor problems that could escalate, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for development in Rivers State.
