Suspected bandits launched a midnight attack on Kakin Dawa village, located in the Gidan Goga district of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and children.
The attack occurred at about 1:30 am on Sunday, with the assailants reportedly wielding sophisticated weapons and moving from house to house.
A resident of the community, who spoke to Newsmen, said the attack caused widespread panic as villagers fled for safety.
“Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village. Later, we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” the source stated.
According to the source, the kidnapped victims include young girls and married women.
He appealed to both the federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy additional military and security personnel to the area to confront the growing menace of banditry.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The attack highlights the persistent security challenges in Zamfara State, a region plagued by banditry and kidnappings, with many residents calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property.
