Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has revealed plans to commence the construction of the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge by the end of March or April this year.
The announcement was made during the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Ikeja, Lagos State, on Thursday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed the state government’s commitment to the project, stating that extensive work had been done on the bridge.

However, he highlighted the need to secure the necessary financing for such a significant undertaking, emphasizing the government’s intention to explore creative financing solutions.
“We’ve done extensive work on the bridge. But we are at the crossroads of where to get the real financing for that kind of project.
We’ll need to be very very creative,” Governor Sanwo-Olu explained.
He further emphasized the government’s timeline for the project, stating, “Our commitment is that within this first quarter, meaning that by the end of March or April, we should break ground to start the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the impending unveiling of the Lagos Red Line rail in February.
He revealed that he had communicated with President Bola Tinubu regarding the unveiling of the rail line, indicating the government’s efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure in the state.
The construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge is a significant infrastructure project that is expected to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s announcement signals a major step forward in the realization of this vital transportation initiative.
