Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yobe State Command, have intercepted 55 parcels of cannabis strain known as Colorado, weighing 2kg, during a stop-and-search operation along the Potiskum–Damaturu road.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
According to the statement, a 22-year-old suspect, Adum Muhammed, was arrested in connection with the seizure.

He was reportedly attempting to smuggle the illicit drug into the Republic of Chad through Ngamboru Ngala, a border town in Borno State.
The arrest forms part of ongoing nationwide operations by the anti-narcotic agency under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
Commenting on the development, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers and commands nationwide for maintaining a strategic balance between drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.
He praised the Yobe Command for their vigilance and reiterated the agency’s commitment to ridding the country of illicit drugs.
