Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has warned his team-mates to prepare for a tough battle against Newcastle at the famous St James’ Park stadium. The Catalan giants secured a gritty 1-0 victory over Athletic Club in La Liga on Saturday night, but the celebrations were short-lived as the squad immediately turned its attention to the looming UCL challenge.
According to him, he and his teammates must get ready to face a very physical opponent in a very difficult stadium for them to have any chance of reaching the quarterfinals.

He added that the physical nature of the EPL side is definitely a major concern for the Blaugrana.
His words, “We suffered a bit towards the end, but I think we defended very well in the final minutes. I am very delighted with the victory. We know we must maintain this advantage, and knowing Real Madrid won yesterday, it was crucial to get the win today. We did exactly that and we are thrilled. Now our focus turns to Tuesday.
We head into it in good spirits after the win. We also know we will face a similar match to the one here, in a very difficult stadium against a very physical opponent. We hope to put in a great performance, play our normal game and win.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the third-most valuable sports team in the world, worth $5.51 billion, and the world’s fourth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €582.1 million.
The official Barcelona anthem is the “Cant del Barça”, written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana.
In March 2021, Lionel Messi overtook Xavi’s record of 767 games played for the club, and presently has made 778 official appearances in all competitions, while also holding the record for the most appearances in La Liga matches for Barcelona, with 520.
