    NIGERIA @ 54: Uduaghan Preaches Unity

    Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has urged Nigerians to be more united in confronting the challenges facing the country.

    Governor Uduaghan made the call at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the 54th Independence Anniversary of the country / dedication of a new Government House Chapel and ruled out imposition of his successor.

    Dr. Uduaghan observed that despite the current security challenges facing the nation, Nigeria has every reason to thank God for keeping us together as one country.

    He admitted that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has its challenges, which according to him could easily be surmounted with unity of purpose and cooperation of all and sundry.

    The Governor noted that through divine intervention the Federal Government under President Jonathan in spite of the spate of insurgency has succeeded in recording remarkable improvement in the living condition of the people.

    He noted that with the President leading the operation we have effectively tackled the Ebola disease, adding that if Nigerians join hands and support him on all issues the country will achieve the desired greatness.

    We as a people of this nation should always remember President Jonathan in prayers and join our hands with him to lead the country to its destination adding that the country is passing through challenges but God is turning things around for the better in order to restore the country’s respect and glory.

    He ruled out the imposition of a successor on the state, stating that only God will decide who will take over from him and added that those aspiring to rule the state must fear God.

    Dr Uduaghan also said that Deltans on their part have every reason to thank God, noting that over the years, the people have overcome different challenges by the grace of God.

    Archbishop God- Do -Well Avwomakpa in a sermon observed that the state government has made giant strides in the areas of provision of infrastructure, especially, the completion and dedication of the Government House Chapel, which he described as a legacy that would outlive any government.

    High point of the occasion which was attended by people of all works of life was the dedication of the Government House Chapel by Arch-Bishop God-Do-Well Avwomakpa who was assisted by other Ministers of God and witnessed by Governor Uduaghan and other top government functionaries.
