The new NUJ building is to be commissioned by Muhamadu Buhari President-elect of Nigeria on the 26th May, 2015.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications Mrs. Ibim Semenitari during the final inspection of the building today.
She commended Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for assisting the Journalists secure a permanent structure.
The Commissioner also commended the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry who contributed to the successful completion of the project they are Mrs. Jokotade Adamu, Mrs. Cordelia Peterside and Samuel Woka.
“I want to thank Mr. Rufus Direh for all his efforts to ensure that it is completed” and all the Directors of the Ministry for their tireless support adding that they are destiny helpers.
Mrs. Semenitari advised Journalists to see their position first as offering service to God and then the State.
“This building is my contribution to journalism profession to give it a right of place”.
“I am proud of this profession”, Semenitari said.
She also commended the contractors for the quality of work done.
In his speech the Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Opaka Dokubo said he was the happiest man as he will be handing over a befitting Secretariat to the in-coming NUJ executives.
Mr. Dokubo added that the building will give Journalists in the State their pride of place.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Sam Woka, Directors of the Ministry and Journalists accompanied the Commissioner on the inspection.
