Youths in Nigeria have been advised to engage in activities that would make positive impacts on the society as well as enhance their individual career development.
The Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Information, Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Lanre Ogunsuyi gave the advise when he granted audience to executive council members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in his office in Ado-Ekiti.
Ogunsuyi urged youths to imbibe the spirit of hard work and attitudinal change to improve their lots, adding that politics should not be seen as a best employment option for young people.
The Special Assistant urged them to take advantage of the various opportunities created by Governor Fayose to develop their careers in order to liberate themselves completely from the shackles of poverty, stressing that youths should be discouraged from making politics a career.
Assuring them that the present administration would continue to create an enabling environment for youths to thrive in the state, he described Governor Fayose as a friend of the youths who would stop at nothing to improve their welfare, adding that the state government has entered into various financial agreements to enable the youths access
soft loans and grants that will make them gainfully employed.
Ogunsuyi stressed the need for youths to keep abreast of the happenings in the world in order to develop entrepreneurial capabilities that could make them compete favourably with their counterparts around the world.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Kola Ajumobi said government would interface with youths of the state to develop a roadmap that would lead them out of the doldrums.
According to him, a youth summit would soon be organized to boost youth entrepreneurial skills and better their lots.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Council in the State, Mr. Gbenga Adedamola called for the resuscitation of the activities of the Youth Parliament in the state as well as the development of a youth policy that will give direction and decide the future of the young people.
Adedamola commended Governor Fayose for wading into the issue concerning the late registration fees of students of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
