LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwired – Jan 23, 2014) – 4medica, provider of the industry’s leading cloud clinical integration platform and solutions, today announced availability of expanded functionality for the Professional version of its cloud-based, integrated ambulatory Electronic Health Record (4medica iEHR®).
Engineered to help improve the accuracy and accessibility of clinical documentation and patient information, the new features will help physicians satisfy the stringent interoperability requirements of Stage 2 Meaningful Use, including improved care coordination and enhanced provider-patient communication.
The new features include:
- A cloud-based fax inbox: Automatic upload to searchable fields in patient charts and the EHR ensures complete patient data, while web-based deployment provides anytime, anywhere data access, streamlining workflow and enhancing patient care. Practices may eliminate fax machines, consumables (paper, toner, etc.) and phone lines completely, while continuing to use existing fax numbers to avoid redesigning forms and marketing materials.
- Image annotation: Allows clinicians to save and mark-up diagnostic and anatomical images. Integrates CT scans, MRIs, x-rays and other images into the electronic medical record seamlessly, making them readily accessible at the point of care. When used with 4medica iEHR®, physicians can add notes to patients’ digital images, and access/annotate an extensive library of medical diagrams, creating a powerful patient education tool for illustrating and explaining the diagnosis and course of treatment.
- Ad hoc query: Allows clinicians to sort through patient lists quickly with user-defined clinical or demographic values. Physicians or other clinicians who use the 4medica ad hoc reporting feature can run queries at the point of service (for example, ‘Show me all patients aged 65+ with HgA1c greater than 7’).
- Patient tracker: Helps busy medical practices monitor patient movements from beginning to end of an office visit. After patients check in at the front desk with the practice management software, the Patient Tracker monitors their status and location across the standard clinic workflow, updating all EHR software users, including medical assistants, nurses, physician assistants, phlebotomists, lab techs and x-ray techs. Eliminates the need for a paper chart in the exam room, and replaces outdated light and flag systems.
“These evolutionary features extend the already powerful capabilities of the professional version of the 4medica ambulatory iEHR,” noted 4medica founder and CEO, Oleg Bess, M.D. “They further the original purpose for which 4medica’s cloud-based solutions were designed: Helping clinicians and their staff improve patient care, lower operational costs, enhance revenue cycle management, and satisfy the challenging requirements of Meaningful Use and Accountable Care.”
4medica’s iEHR gives physicians a unified view of patient data across the spectrum of care, integrating patient information from clinical information systems including lab, radiology, PACS and pharmacy systems. With 24×7 online access to patient-centric records, iEHR gives clinicians vital patient data, medical alerts and decision-support tools to improve patient outcomes while reducing costs — the primary goal of meaningful use. Clinicians also benefit from iEHR’s longitudinal patient history, a basic building block for evidence-based care, chronic disease management and population health.
