The newly appointed Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye has sought for total cooperation from the staff of the Ministry.
The Minister made this request during the handing-over ceremony held at the conference room of the Ministry yesterday, July 4, 2014.
In his address, the outgoing Minister of State for Works, who has been redeployed the Ministry of Finance as Minister of State and doubles as Supervising Minister/Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda congratulated Prince Adedayo Adeyeye on his new appointment, saying that he believes Prince Adeyeye will uphold the confidence Mr. President has reposed in him.
Ambassador Bashir informed the in-coming Minister that the Federal Ministry of Works is one of the Ministries in the country where economic activities of Nigeria could be measured and boosted in terms of infrastructural development, adding that through the Ministry, dividends of democracy could be fully achieved by the provision of world class roads and bridges to oil the economy, and on this we will not relent in our effort to accomplish it.
Ambassador Yuguda said since the onset of this Administration, Mr. President gave the matching orders to the Ministry under the leadership of the Minister of Works, Arc. Mike Onolememen and his humble self that Nigerian roads must be transformed.
According to the Minister, the achievements recorded so far by the Ministry were as a result of mutual cooperation that existed between Arc. Onolememen and himself, saying that the cordial working relationship that existed between them proved some pundits wrong, adding that pairing people of like minds brings out the best result. He also appreciated President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s support for the Federal Ministry of Works during his tenure as Minister of State for Works, which has resulted into tremendous successes on service delivery in our road sector, nationwide.
Ambassador Yuguda further said that through the introduction of Public Private Partnership, the Ministry has been able to concession two major projects, the 2nd Niger Bridge that was recently flag-off by Mr. President and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Among the dignitaries that attended the handing-over ceremonies were a former Director of Planning Research and Statistic (PRS), and recently appointed Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Magaji, Directors, Deputy Directors and Special Assistants.
