With Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio facing his biggest test so far in his political career, Akwa Ibom PDP has asked for tight security in INEC offices all over the state.
Publicity secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong ho pleaded exactly this on Mnoday specifically requested for better security presence in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district and the state office in Uyo Ememobong, after strange reports of some people trying to burn down INEC offices in the state all to perfect a plan of frustrating announcement of results after the election.
His words, He said, “We are in receipt of impeccable intelligence indicating a plan to attack and burn INEC offices in ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and the headquarters in Uyo .
“We are hereby appealing that the security operatives should provide adequate security for all the offices, officers and infrastructure of INEC to prevent agents from making their threat of destroying lives and property.
“We also appeal to INEC to remain firm, resolute and unbending in the discharge of their duties. Illegitimate requests must never be acceded to.”
He mentioned that gathering of result had already been done in nine out of 10 local government areas and 3 ut of four of the House of Representatives seats declared by thE electoral body, INEC, showed PDP was victorious with a very wide margin of over 60,000 votes.
He added that PDP was not going to joke with the result of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, no matter the challenge posed at it by the ruling party.
He continued, “The Inspector General of Police and the entire security apparatus of government must engender public confidence about their neutrality and must show that no one is above the law.
“All institutions of state must depart from partisan tendencies as it is a great threat to the sustainability and growth of our democracy”,
