U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Republican Rep. Byron Donalds for the 2026 Florida gubernatorial election, despite Donalds not yet declaring his candidacy.
Trump made the endorsement on Thursday via his Truth Social platform, stating that Donalds would be a strong leader and a key ally in advancing his “America First Agenda.”
“As governor, Byron would have a BIG Voice and would work closely with me to advance our America First Agenda,” Trump wrote.

The U.S. President praised Donalds’ political record, saying, “I have seen Byron tested at the highest, most difficult levels, and he is a total winner!”
Trump further stated, “Byron Donalds would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida and, should he decide to run, will have my Complete and Total Endorsement.”
According to ABC News, no major candidate has officially declared for the 2026 Florida gubernatorial race. However, both Donalds and Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis, are considered potential frontrunners.
