The Yobe State Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Bakabe on Monday said that the North-east would never forgive President Goodluck Jonathan for funding Nollywood with the same amount he gave to the zone for revival of its economy”.
Bakabe, who made this known in a chat with newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital, recalled that at the peak of Boko Haram insurgency in the region, President Jonathan allocated N2 billion to the area for reconstruction after giving N130 billion to Niger Delta and N2 billion to Nigeria’s film industry known as Nollywood.
“People of this area will not forgive President Jonathan for equating the whole zone with a film industry. We have been neglected”, he said.
He added: “We have not been benefiting from federal government projects. Instead, most of the unmotorable federal roads in the region were taken over by the state government to reduce the hardship of people here”.
The Yobe APC scribe, however, called on the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to look into the issue and rehabilitate the zone.
