The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has blamed Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
Wike made these accusations during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, stating that Governor Fubara’s actions have contributed to the current unrest in the state.
The minister criticized Fubara’s decision to proceed with local government elections, suggesting that it was a violation of the rule of law.

“No person who believes in peace and stability of any nation will say they support violence, destruction, or disharmony.
But when there is violence and instability, the question to ask is: what has led to it?” Wike said.
He added, “I was a governor, and I always respected the rule of law. The current governor claims the state is descending into anarchy, but this is what happens when you disregard the courts.
A governor cannot say on national television that he won’t obey a court judgement. That’s an invitation to anarchy.”
Wike also accused Fubara of openly rejecting the need for law enforcement, further escalating tensions.
“When someone says they don’t need the police or protection for lives and property, they are inviting anarchy.
The governor is the architect of the violence,” Wike concluded.
The political situation in Rivers State has been marked by heightened tensions between the two leaders, sparking widespread concern over the future stability of the state.
