Buoyed by the overwhelming success of the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded general elections, a former Commissioner of Finance, Bayelsa State, Hon. Stephen Ogullah, has declared the party’s readiness to rescue Bayelsans from the misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
The Bayelsa governorship polls will take place later this year.
Ogullah, a commissioner who served under the administration of former Governor Timipre Sylva, made the statement during an interview with journalists in Abuja at the weekend.
According to the APC chieftain, the people in the state were yearning for change as they groan under the burden of the Seriake Dickson-led administration.
He also accused the governor of corruption and oppression of the fundamental human rights of Bayelsans, saying that the government has continued to extort money from the salary of civil servants, insecurity on the rise, and also mismanagement of public funds meant for the development of the state.
Ogullah said, “When the righteous rule the people rejoice, but the case is different in Bayelsa because the people are crying and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will bring a righteous person and the people of Bayelsa will rejoice.
“The state government cannot pay salary and resorts to extortion of money from civil servants unnecessarily and they are crying. This was not the case of the former governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, because under his government civil servants and contractors were paid their money, and he made sure civil servants were promoted as at when due.
“PDP is gone in Bayelsa State, the people are shouting PDP and Dickson must go. And nothing will stop APC to take over the helms of affair come 2016, and no amount of manipulation can stop this rescue mission and we are ready to salvage the people.
“If we do not change this government now, Bayelsa State will be grounded because the pattern and way Dickson is governing the people is undemocratic. He is using intimidation on the people.
“We need a change in Bayelsa State, and majority of Bayelsans believe that when APC finally takes over the government in 2016 the party will carry them along and they will have a sense of belonging which is absent right now in the state”.
The ex-commissioner also expressed confidence and maintained that the people will experience monumental change in every sector of the economy and their personal life if they vote APC into office in the state.
“By the grace of God APC is taking over government in Bayelsa State and there will be a lot of changes with the massive support we are having at the moment, because we are a grassroots party”, Ogullah stated
