The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to place the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 above their individual political interests.
Keyamo made the call during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Monday.
He stressed that President Tinubu requires a second term to consolidate and complete the wide-ranging reforms initiated under his administration.

“Every single APC member in Nigeria today should be concentrating on the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, irrespective of whether it affects your personal interest or not, because he does need a second term to fully finish up all these reforms,” Keyamo stated.
The minister warned that a change in leadership in 2027 could derail the progress made, citing the past experiences of abandoned or poorly implemented policies due to transitions in government.
“It will be tragic for any government to come in 2027 and stop all these reforms. This is what has happened in the past when you had all the inchoate policies that were implemented,” he said.
Speaking on the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Keyamo, who hails from Delta State, announced he had ceded party leadership in the state to the governor.
According to him, such personal sacrifices are necessary to strengthen the party and boost Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Whether I have to make sacrifices like yesterday where we surrendered (party leadership in Delta), it is all irrelevant so long as we are strengthening APC the more for the re-election of Mr President,” he said.
“I don’t care whether it affects me, I don’t care whether I lose out politically. Mr President must be elected.”
He further described Delta as a former stronghold and major funder of the PDP, saying the governor’s defection is a significant gain for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
